Questa frase è erroneamente attribuita a Gandhi.

Nicholas Klein, un attivista sindacale, in un suo discorso del 1918 pronunciò una frase simile:

“Prima ti ignorano. Poi ti ridicolizzano. E poi ti attaccano e vogliono bruciarti. E poi ti costruiscono monumenti.”
